Another Colorado Trip

We spent last week in Colorado with my parents. We had such a good time. It was so nice to get away from the AZ heat too.

My dad had bought Brooklyn a camoflauge dress so I thought it would be appropriate for her to wear it in CO. She looked so cute.

When we put her on the bench outside for a photo op, she was more interested in picking the flowers instead.

Then I thought it would be cute to take her picture by a tree so she would blend in. I didn't want to be in the picture with her, so my mom and I buckled her in this little booster high chair seat... Little did we know Brooklyn would be so interested in the weeds. She leaned over and the whole thing tipped. She landed face first in the weed. I felt sooooo bad. Luckily she only had a couple scratches and no harm was done. Bad mommy!

We got to ride horses one of the days. I didn't have the camera though. Dang it. We also went to the lake. It was beautiful.

Here is Brooklyn sporting her frog life jacket and her "My first fishing hat" that my dad got her.

Kurt hanging out in the front of the boat.

This boating trip was cut short due to the black clouds and rain and hail that blew in. The wind was so cold coming across the water.

I laid Brooklyn down for a nap in her playpen. I put her in horizontally and when I went to check on her, she had wiggled around so her hands and feet were touching the edge. I guess she likes it that way.

When the sun came out a few days later, we tried the whole boating/fishing thing one more time. Here is Brooklyn driving the boat. She thought she was hot stuff.

I just can't get enough of those baby blues!

The dogs hung out at the front as our "look out" crew. They were having just as much fun as us.

Here's Kurt and Bailee fishing off the back. I don't have any pictures, but I'm actually the one who caught most the fish that day :)

This was the view on our drive home. Long road with not much to look at but bushes and clouds. I enjoy the ride though. It gives Kurt and I plenty of chit-chat time.

We stopped off at Woods Canyon Lake on the way home to stretch our legs and enjoy the scenery. It was so pretty. I think we'll need to put that on our list of things to do next and try camping with Brooklyn.

She is such a good little traveler. She slept most the way there and about half the time on the way back. So peaceful.

Next week we are heading to Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan. Brooklyn will get to ride on an airplane for the first time. Wish us luck!

6 Months Old Already

Wow... I cannot believe Brooklyn is 6 months old already. Just where did the time go???

Well, we've begun solid food in the Bucy household. Here was our first attempt at rice cereal.

Brooklyn wasn't too sure about eating off a spoon. She wasn't really getting the hang of it and just kept pulling away from me.

Then she resorted to just giving me dirty looks:

A few days later, we tried applesauce. That went over a tad better than the rice cereal. I think she ended up wearing most of it on her face though.

And when she was done, in came Bailee to lick it off her hands and the highchair tray. This is only the beginning... Bailee is about to become her best friend (just so she can pick up all the scraps that end up on the floor I think).

Here are a few random shots. I just love her face on this one. I guess she had to show off a bit due to the shirt she was wearing "When God made me, he was showing off"

We're practicing sitting up too. She does pretty well when she's propped against something. Maybe one of these days she'll do it on her own.

Crazy hair.

Trying on her cousin's sunglasses:

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with Kurt's mom and played in her pool all day.

Brooklyn loves swimming. She kicks her little legs and moves her arms all around. She even dips her face in the water by herself.

Daddy and Brooklyn:

So much fun:

Kurt's mom's pool was so much clearer than my brother's last week, so we thought we'd try the underwater pictures again with my camera. This shot was taken under water looking up. You could see my hands and Brooklyn's arms under water, and then the reflection of her face that was out of the water. It looks funny!

I took this one. I was under water looking up. It looks so abstract. I love it!

This one made it look like she was swimming completely underwater, but her head was out.

Oh, and here's me:

Brooklyn catching some rays.

And when it was all said and done, Brooklyn was wore out. We didn't even have to try and get her to go down for a nap. As soon as she had her binky and her bunny, she was out cold.

Tomorrow we head out for another trip to Colorado. I can't wait to get out of the heat for the next week!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful day. I was thinking though, every day feels like Mother's Day to me when Brooklyn stares up at me with her big blue eyes and ear to ear grin. I've wanted to be a mother my whole life and am so happy that my dreams have come true! Here's me and my precious baby girl...

Four generations... Brooklyn, me, my mom and my grandma.

Three generations... Brooklyn, Kurt and his mom.

We spent the afternoon at my brother's house swimming and BBQing with all the mothers. Brooklyn had her first dip in the swimming pool too. I wasn't sure how she was going to like it. She loves the bath, but this was a bit colder.

It took her a minute, but she loved it. She was kicking and smiling all afternoon. She was having such a fun time.

Here's my nephew playing basketball.

They had this cool blow up slide and sprinkler by the pool. The kids were having a blast.

Brooklyn on the slide.

Our camera takes underwater pictures. This was the first time we tested it out. The water was a bit murky, but we got some fun shots. Here's Brooklyn's cute tummy. I wasn't ready to dunk her under to get a face shot yet.

But the big kids were ready to pose for us. Here's Sage:

And Aspen:

And Princess Brooklyn when she got out of the pool.

At the end of the day, Brooklyn was wore out. She actually fell asleep during her bottle. You know she's tired when she misses out on her food.

Happy Mother's Day to all.

A New Toy Makes For A Happy Little Girl

We received some money for a belated baby gift and used it to buy Brooklyn a new toy. It's a Jungle Exersaucer. She just loves it!

It rocks and bounces when she jumps.

And has a ton of different toys and noisemakers. She spins around in the seat and checks it all out.

She thinks it is just the coolest thing and is so happy when she plays with it. It gives mom a nice break too since it keeps her occupied for quite a while.
