What We've Been Up To This Week

Brooklyn woke up from her nap this afternoon and was just jabbering away for about 10 minutes before I went to get her and this is what I found. She is sooooo funny!

She was pulling down the bumper pad and peeking out the crib. I guess she was trying to escape!

This little girl is ON THE MOVE! She does not sit still anymore. She mostly just army crawls everywhere, but every now and then she'll pick up her tummy and do the real thing. And she is very quick.

I was doing dishes and looked over and saw her pulling herself up on the jumper toy. She wants to stand now too!

And she's figured out that stairs are fun. We'll be getting baby gates here real soon before she cracks her head!

She also likes to check out Bailee's toys. She gets into everything...

And her favorite thing to do is chase Bailee around.

Poor Bailee... she keeps moving away from her, but Brooklyn does not give up. This is pretty much a daily ritual for her. She sure loves her doggy! She even crawls through obstacle courses to get to her...

Kurt's mom gave her a little Shrek baby. She thought that was pretty neat.

I just love this dress. A friend of mine gave it to her. She looks so pretty in it!

I was going to save it for something special since it's so pretty... but little missy keeps growing too fast and I didn't want her to grow out of it before she even got to wear it.

So she can wear fancy stuff for everyday clothes. There's no rule against that, right? :)

And this is her "fishing dress" that my mom bought her to wear fishing in Colorado. Funny part is, what my mom thought was a fish is really a bumble bee :) But we still call it her "fishing dress" anyway.

We leave again tomorrow for another Colorado Vacation! I hope everyone has a safe and Happy 4th of July!!!!! I'm sure we'll have a ton of pictures to post when we get back!

Happy Father's Day!

I hope all the fathers out there had a wonderful Father's Day. We sure did.

Kurt is such a great daddy. Brooklyn just adores him. She gets an ear to ear grin EVERY time she sees him. She is truly a "daddy's girl" and we both appreciate him so much. Brooklyn and I are both so very thankful that he works hard and we are able to stay home together every day. Kurt, we love you very much!

Here is Brooklyn with her daddy on Father's Day...

Kurt was able to sleep in Sunday morning and get breakfast in bed. Then Brooklyn gave him his card and gift. Brooklyn and I attempted to make a mold of her foot, but miss wiggle worm wouldn't hold still. I was able to salvage most of the footprint and just painted over the really messed up part and added painted-on toes :) I guess Brooklyn doesn't fit into a mold. She has her own unique style and put that into her gift for daddy. It did turn out so precious though. Now we just need to find the perfect place to hang it.

We went over to my brother's to swim and BBQ and spend time with the family. Brooklyn is sporting her little bikini. She looked so cute with her pudgy legs and belly hanging out.

Cousin Tanner had to check her out in the kiddy pool. It is afterall "his" pool and he's not too sure about having to share his stuff with her.

Brooklyn and my dad swimming:

Showing off the bikini. Check out the dog's tongue on the right side of the pic. I guess she's getting a taste of Brooklyn. Too funny!

Having fun in a Brooklyn-sized pool.

Showing off her robe after we're all done swimming:

Tanner was on his sit and spin, so we thought Brooklyn might like a ride too.

We had such a fun day. I didn't get a picture of all the dads that were there, but it was so nice to be able to spend the day with everyone.

Growing Up So Fast

Brooklyn had her Dr appt this week. She's 18.5 pounds and a little over 27 inches long.

For the past few weeks, she has been sitting up ALL BY HERSELF! She has really good balance too. She'll sit like this and play with her toys. She's gotten to where she can go 15 or 20 minutes without falling. She hasn't learned to sit herself back up yet, but she sure has mastered it when I sit her there.

And little missy is trying to crawl. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. She started this while we were on vacation. Just look at that concentration!

She hasn't quite figured out how to move the arms and legs at the same time. She's going to get it any day though. For now she army crawls all the way across the room. I guess it's time to start baby proofing the house.

We had a play date this afternoon with my friend Melissa and her son Brayden. They were so cute together. They rolled all over the floor and were holding hands.

Brayden is only 5 days older and look how much bigger he is. He weighs more and is taller, but Brooklyn has pudgier arms and legs.

I know it's a bit overkill with all the pictures of these two, but I just noticed something hilarious. This is the exact order I pulled the pics off my camera. Notice the blue toy phone Brayden is holding.

Brooklyn stole it away. (this was too sweet, they were watching the trees blow out the window and Brooklyn has the cutest expression on her face)

But wait, Brayden stole the phone back again... See Brooklyn's arm going after it?

And she steals it back. (Oh, and see how good Brayden is sitting up all on his own? He learned that from Brooklyn today. This was the first day he did it all by himself. I guess he couldn't have a girl show him up!)

We pulled her cups out to share with Brayden and of course they went straight to both mouths. Kurt said it looks like they were having a tea party!

Then Brooklyn was playing hide and seek under the coffee table.

And her day wouldn't be complete without doing some pull ups on the bar of the coffee table. Gotta work out those muscles!

By the time we got home, she was pooped and completely passed out!

She sure had fun playing with her friend!

June Vacation, Part 2 (Michigan)

OK, so we've already seen the highlights from our Indiana and Kentucky portion of our vacation... Here's what we did in Michigan.

We stayed with one of my very best friends that I've known since I was 3 years old... Katie. She moved to MI about 13 years ago and we've been able to keep in touch and remain good friends. We stayed in her camper while we were there. It worked out very nice. We didn't have to pay for more hotels, and we didn't disrupt her family since we were still on west coast time.

Brooklyn tried her first "non-baby" food while we were there (watermelon). I only let her lick the juice off since I didn't want her to choke on it.

She loved it. She got it all over her face and clothes. It must have been pretty tasty!

This is Katie's daughter, Morgan. She'll be 8 years old this summer.

Katie and Morgan jumping on the trampoline. Kurt was on there doing flips with Morgan, but I didn't get that on the camera. It was quite the sight.

I had to include this. Kurt took a picture of Morgan at the same exact time that she took a picture of him. That doesn't happen too often. They tried again and again and couldn't do it.

We took a walk on the boardwalk in St. Clair, right off the St. Clair River. It was so pretty. We didn't take our stroller on the trip so carried Brooklyn everywhere in the Baby Bjorn. It actually worked out quite well.

I just LOVE this picture of Brooklyn. She was kicking back in the Bjorn. What a happy little girl she is.

We had lunch at a really cool place off the river. It was called the River Crab. The service was great, it was very delicious and we had a beautiful view overlooking the St. Clair River. We had a table right by the window and were able to watch all the boats go by.

Then before we left, a couple big freightors came through so we had to get some pictures. They were so cool.

That's a big boat. And I guess there are ones that come through even bigger.

This was up by Vantage Point. Kurt and I did some sight seeing during the afternoons while Katie and Morgan were at school and Katie's husband was working. Kurt liked seeing all the boats.

This is the bridge that goes to Canada. We couldn't go to the other side though because we didn't bring our passports with us. They just recently made it so that you can't cross over without your passport. Oh well, we'll have to do that next time. I've been there before, but it would have been neat to take Kurt and Brooklyn.

We found a really pretty park while we were sightseeing so pulled over and let Brooklyn play. She loved the swing. It was too cold for her though so we took her out early.

We wanted to walk around a bit and didn't have a blanket with us so Kurt cuddled her up and zipped her in his sweatshirt. She didn't seem to mind.

We had a really good time, but after 9 days, it was nice to come back home. Brooklyn did amazing on the plane back too. Didn't cry, not even once. There was a lady that said "That's the best baby I've ever seen" and a woman in front of her said "There was a baby on the plane?" I guess that means she's a good traveler. I was soooooo proud of her.
Bailee was happy to see us when we got home. She stayed with my parents while we were away.

I think she had a good time playing with their dogs. She was worn out when we got home too. And she got a new bed while we were away. She looks so cozy!
