Trenton's Big Boy Bed!!!

Since I have csection babies and can't lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for 6 weeks, our kids have to transition from the crib to their big beds earlier than some other parents move theirs. Brooklyn was about 21 months when she moved and adjusted very quickly. Trenton just turned 19 months today so I wasn't sure how it was going to go. Not only was he moved out of the crib, but he now has to share a room with Brooklyn so the baby can have the nursery.

Here is his big boy bed! I am not a fan of toddler beds, mainly because they grow out of them so fast. We moved Brooklyn directly to a twin, but there was no way we'd fit 2 twin beds, 2 dressers, a toy box, laundry hamper and the toy organizer in her room... and I'm not ready for bunk beds so toddler bed it is!

It fits perfectly in Brooklyn's room and still leaves an area on the floor for play time.

Kurt set it all up in the morning, but I wanted Trenton to have one last nap in his crib (so I could get a good nap too). Here he was checking it out for the first time. He was so excited!

Brooklyn was supposed to be napping in her bed, but she said she had to test out Trenton's new bed first. I caught her fast asleep in his spot.

Then it was bedtime... Trenton was still super excited about it. I was preparing for a really LONG night. He really did surprise me though.

Practicing climbing in and out...

OK... has his monkey and is ready to go! I tucked him in, closed the door and of course he started to cry. Lasted about 15 minutes and then he quieted down. He kept climbing out and I'd just tell him to go back to bed. He was almost asleep when Brooklyn was ready for bed so of course then he wanted to play. I could hear them talking to each other for quite a while, and finally about 10:45 they were both out. (He normally goes to bed at 7:30).

I didn't hear another peep all night long! I went in to check on them around 3am and he was still fast asleep. Didn't even bother him that I was snapping a picture :) The only bad part was that he woke up at 7:20 instead of 9:00 like he normally does. He didn't cry or anything, just banged on the door until he woke Brooklyn up to open it for him, then they both went to play in the loft until I came out.

I thought nap time would be rough today and he literally cried for less than a minute then I heard him climb into bed and 5 minutes later I opened the door and he was sound asleep. He took his usual 3 hour nap and woke up happy. When it was time for bed tonight, I put him down, shut the door and there was only 15 seconds of crying before he climbed back in bed. He talked for a little bit then was sound asleep when I took Brooklyn in an hour later. Even though she was a bit louder than I would have liked, he didn't wake up at all.

I don't know why I was so worried about this transition. He is such an easy going guy and continues to prove that to me time and again! I am so excited to have this checked off my to-do list before the baby comes!

He really is my BIG boy now! No more baby crib for this dude :)

Baby Celebration Luncheon

I didn't want to have a baby shower this time around... for several reasons. We don't know what the baby is, I saved all my stuff from Brooklyn and Trenton, and I really don't want people to feel obligated to buy me things just because we've decided to have more kids.

With that being said, a friend of mine from church wanted to do something special anyway just to celebrate the baby coming so I invited a few friends and we got together for a luncheon at Olive Garden. It was so much fun! And of course, being the special friends they were, they brought me gifts anyway.

Trenton had to check out the balloons right away!

I haven't really done any shopping for this baby, so after bringing home all these wonderful gifts, it's starting to sink in that the baby is actually coming... and coming fast! It's so nice to have "stuff" ready in advance. Oh, and thanks to my mother in law, that is a baby bullet on the left. I am so excited about that! I didn't have all that fancy stuff when I made baby food for Trenton... This kid is going to be set! :)

Little One will be here in less than 3 weeks. I've officially begun my "nesting" stage and am getting things prepared around the house... as much as I can anyway. This baby makes it hard to move around, and wears me out :)

I can't wait to find out if it's a girl or a boy and hold this precious little one in my arms for the first time! I'm getting so excited!!!!

Fun Adventures!

We look forward to Fridays. We usually spend them hanging out with Grandpa, Grandma and Tanner. This past week, we took a little field trip to the Riparian Preserve to check out the fish, turtles and ducks. We had a pizza picnic, played on the playground, and took a nice walk around the preserve.

Brooklyn kept trying to catch the ducks!

Trenton liked quacking at all the ducks!

And of course the kids loved checking out all the trails and streams. Tanner even shared some of this water with Trenton since he couldn't reach it. What a good cousin!

We spent Sunday after church with Kurt's mom and she pulled out the roller coaster for the kids. They had so much fun.

Weeeee! (I love how Brooklyn still has her arms stretched out from pushing Trenton along). Once they would hit the end of the roller coaster, they'd keep going the whole length of the patio.

Brooklyn's turn. Trenton's face cracks me up in this one. He wasn't too fond of the whole "taking turns" idea :)

When it was his turn, he liked to ride the car around for a bit after he'd reach the end. Brooklyn kept telling him that's not how it goes, he had to put the car back on the track.

And this picture shows off his handsome new haircut too. His hair grows like a weed (just like Daddy's) so we cut it short this time! What a stud :)

Just thought this was a cute picture. Brooklyn has been running around with this Cinderella doll all week. Everything has been... "Cinderella wants to do this, Cinderella wants to do that..." She's silly.

Grandma's Birthday Picnic!

I just found these pictures on my camera and realized I never posted them. My mom's birthday was the end of February and we celebrated by taking the kids to the park for a nice birthday picnic with the kids, my dad, my Grandma and my uncle.

Trenton LOVED the swing!

I kept trying to get him off this ladder thing because he's still too small. I think he was trying to tell me "I am NOT too little Mommy" because he kept going right back!

Tanner had some cool moves on the ladder!

Trenton made his way up to the big slide.

And then took off down the hill. Catch me if you can Grandma! I think she can still keep up with him though :)

Driving the car.

The kids on the jet ski ride.

Brooklyn and Tanner on the ferris wheel. Brooklyn kept saying "I can see EVERYTHING from way up here."

I LOVE Arizona weather this time of year so we've been soaking it up as much as possible before the new baby comes!
