Busy Busy Busy... That's What Our Week Was Like!

Kurt was gone for 5 days this week. He started out in Indiana to visit his Grandparents, and then on to Ohio for a Team/Monavie convention. We were a little bummed that we didn't get to go too, so we made the most of it and had a very fun, busy week!

******************************************

Wednesday: Dropped Kurt off at the airport then Brooklyn had a play date with her friend Finley. Brooklyn kept calling her "Beautiful Finley". Here they are making mud pies outside.

And yes, Brooklyn was actually having fun. She doesn't usually like to do anything that gets her dirty. I was surprised. It didn't last long though. When she noticed mud on her hands she wanted them washed off and that was it...

My flash didn't go off on this one. Here is Finley showing off her cool shades!

The girls playing with bubbles. These two are only about a month apart in age and sure do love getting together to play!

Finley wondering why Brooklyn wasn't coming to chase her. She was all ready!

Trenton found a good spot on the couch to take a nap!

Brooklyn painting with some cool water colors! (and paying attention to some cartoons at the same time).

Trenton playing with some of Finley's toys. He likes play dates too~

The girls hanging out in Finley's room. Brooklyn cracks me up here. She was laying on the bed talking on a pretend phone. My friend says, "Come take a look at what your future has to hold."

It was really hard to leave my friend's house that night though. They are moving out of state in the next couple weeks. She has been a really good friend of mine for the past 10 years. I sure am going to miss her, her husband and their "Beautiful Finley".

Thursday: Trenton had solid foods for the first time, if that's what you want to call rice cereal. He actually did pretty good.

Gave a few funny faces, but most of it ended up in his tummy! Brooklyn kept telling me she wanted some so I said ok and gave her the spoon. She took one look and said "No thank you, that's for babies." I guess it wasn't too appealing. I don't blame her!

I guess he was having fun with it too. Little flirt... always has a smile on his face.

Brooklyn showing off the pretty dress she brought home from Finley's house.

Trenton resting on the couch watching some Baby Einsteins.

I didn't get any pictures, but Thursday was the first time I've gone grocery shopping with both kids at once. Usually I just leave them home with Daddy! They actually did very well. Brooklyn sat in the front seat of the cart and I wore Trenton in the Baby Bjorn. We went to Babies R Us, Walmart, Walgreens and then stopped for pizza for lunch. It was fun!

Friday: The kids and I went over to my parents house to play with my nephew. It was my cousin's birthday so we loaded the kids up and walked over to my aunt's house. Here are Brooklyn and Tanner in the wagon. Brooklyn had some new sunglasses so she was excited!

Trenton was all ready to go in the stroller.

This is my cousin's daughter with Trenton. She is about 5 and a half months older than Brooklyn.

This is a different cousin's son. He's a big boy just like Trenton... actually he's bigger. Trenton is only about 2 weeks older than him. We sure know how to grow big babies! :)

My flash didn't go off so this one is dark. I just had to include it though. Trenton decided to chew on someone else's fingers. They must have tasted good. It will be so fun to have these boys so close in age growing up together. They are going to have so much fun running around when they get bigger.

Tanner had to get in the picture too. He just loves babies!!!

Friday night I met up with some other friends of mine (whose husbands were also out of town at the convention with Kurt). We had dinner and let the kids play on the toys at San Tan mall. Brooklyn was excited to have dinner out.

Playing on the slide. There were so many kids there. I ended up not getting as much conversation with my friends because I was so busy keeping an eye on Brooklyn so nobody could snatch her!

Having a seat with Nash. I couldn't get her to sit still long enough to take a nice picture. She was having too much fun!

She loved walking on the ledge surrounding the play area. It was a little less crowded there I guess.

We had a great time and it was nice to catch up with my friends.

Saturday: Our busy week must have caught up with us. I slept in until almost 10 and the kids didn't get up until 10:30. It was so nice!!! That never happens!

Spent most of the day doing laundry and chores getting ready for Daddy to come home.

Here is Trenton having a snooze. I guess he thought his binky was better off in his hand than his mouth. Silly boy!

Brooklyn kept folding her arms saying "Brrr, it's cold. I need my snow hat!" So, she wore it around the house for a bit.

And that about wraps up our week. We took lots of pictures so Kurt could see what we've been up to while he was away. It took a few days for Brooklyn to realize he was gone. When she started asking about him I told her he'd be back on Sunday. She said "I love Sunday". I guess she's ready to hug her Daddy!

It has been quite interesting being a "single parent" for the week. The kids behaved and we made it through with no problems. I think we'll all be happy to see Daddy though!

Brooklyn's First Haircut

My mom was getting her hair cut today and Brooklyn seemed very interested. She kept saying she wanted a haircut too.... So, she got one!

She wasn't too thrilled when it was actually her turn, but Grandma bribed her with candy hearts. That did the trick! Here she is showing them off in her mouth.

She wasn't too sure about sitting still underneath the cape. She was such a wiggle worm. Good thing Auntie Heidi can keep up with her :)

Look at my toes... they can peek out from under here!

So pretty... Or beautiful as Brooklyn will tell you. That seems to be her word of the week!

She's had her bangs trimmed up before, but this was her first actual haircut. We saved a lock of hair to put in her baby book! I had straightened her hair the other day and we noticed how long it really was. It was just stringy though, so now she has some shape. And for the record, we won't be straightening it again any time soon. She looks adorable with her curls!

Trenton - 5 months

My baby boy turned 5 months yesterday. And to celebrate, he decided to sit up all by himself without anything to lean on! Way to go buddy! He was so proud of himself... can you tell? I just love this kid's smile!

He actually held it long enough for me to take a handful of pictures too! I was right there to catch him if he decided to kick backwards. I guess I better find some padding to put under him so he can practice more without worrying about bumping his head on the tile.

I put him in his bed while I showered the other day. He was just talking and laughing so I took my time. When I went to check on him, this is what I found. He had reached the comforter and pulled it in bed with him and was totally laughing. I asked "What are you doing?" and this is the response I got. His face tells it all. I guess he was having fun! Peek a boo!

Watching Tinkerbell with his big sister. She sat there for the whole movie, he lost interest after about 10 minutes. He prefers watching Baby Einstein.

Showing off the shirt Grandma got for him. And yes, we did have our much needed "all day" date night on Saturday. Woo hoo! That was the longest I have left the kids at a babysitter, with the exception of my two hospital stays last year, but that didn't count!

This little boy is just growing up too fast. I love watching him experience new things and develop his personality. It amazes me how different he is from his sister at this age too. He is definitely my little snuggle bug and is becoming quite the mommy's boy. That is actually nice since Brooklyn was always a daddy's girl.

Our New Table

This is the table we've had for the past 8 years. It has definitely gotten us by, but we decided we were way past due for a new one. Glass top tables are not very kid friendly, not to mention hard to keep clean. So, we spent a day last week visiting SEVERAL stores looking for the perfect table that would match in with our furniture and cabinets.

This is what we came up with... little did we know it was going to be such a hassle. Delivery was scheduled for Monday. They showed up late with our table and 6 chairs, but 4 of the chairs were defective so we refused them. After being so excited to get the new table, this is what we were left with... Bummer!

The next day they were scheduled to deliver 4 new chairs. Low and behold, two of those were bad. This is looking a little better, but still not what we paid for.

Third day comes around and they were bringing us two more chairs. We thought, hey, third time's a charm, right? Wrong! One of the chairs wobbled so bad and the delivery guy tried to bend it. Yes, he was trying to bend wood. He had all his weight bouncing on it and trying to bend with his arms and all of a sudden we hear a "ting" and a screw fell out, so that one was obviously refused. We are so close to being complete now!

And then finally today they dropped off the sixth chair and it was perfect! After all that, we finally have a complete set. Whew! Doesn't it look pretty?

We were not really wanting fabric on the seats, but they are really comfortable. We just ended up putting a towel over Brooklyn's chair to try and keep it clean.

I actually prefer the dark wood, but everything in our house right now is light, so it actually fits in very nice. I am so happy to finally have all the pieces.

This was our first time buying from this particular store, and needless to say, it was not a good first impression! It was a little tempting just to say forget about it and return the whole set after our fiasco, but we really did like it and didn't want to start over. At least they refunded us the $100 delivery fee though. I'm sure they spent more than that in gas making 4 trips to finally get it right!

Kids Being Kids

Look at me... I'm so cute! Say cheese :)

And yes, she does know how to be a little stinker at times. We must have dropped a crayon on the floor when cleaning up and she decided to color me a picture ALL over the tile. Mommy made her help scrub it all up.

Playing ring around the rosies with Trenton. She was spinning him in circles singing the song. I wonder what was going through his head... Probably thinks he has a crazy sister!

Look at me, I'm having a tea party!

Equipped with tea and cereal.

We got some new storage bins to organize toys. I love them! Gives a spot for all the toys instead of thrown all over the floor. It's also teaching Brooklyn to help clean up. We sing the clean up song together and she helps put the toys back where they belong. Also helps her see what she has to play with instead of dumping everything on the floor to find a certain toy!

Trenton telling me a silly story.

Which includes the tongue! He loves to stick out his tongue lately.

Yep, he is a silly boy!

Look at that grin. Just hanging out in the jumper. And if you look closely... he does have a little bit of hair for the sun to shine off of :) Brooklyn's did the same thing when she was a baby. They were both born with a lot of hair, then it all fell out and around 6 months started growing back in.

Let me fix it for you brother! Or maybe she's just hiding from him instead... who knows!

Totally glued in to a Baby Einsteins animal movie. Gave mom a nice break to get some chores done!

Just sitting around telling mommy another story.

And yes, I know I'm cute!!!

Love getting all these big smiles from my handsome boy!
